Ḥadīth

Ever had that ‘gut feeling’ to do something right or to stop you from doing something wrong? Ever found yourself an audience to an internal debate when deciding between a wrong and a right; one pushing you towards wrong and the other pushing you towards right?

In a Ḥadīth narrated in at-Tirmidhī:

❝The Shayṭān has some influence over the son of Ādam and the angel has some influence over the son of Ādam. The influence of Shayṭān is to remind him of evil and to encourage him to belie the truth. Whereas the influence of the angel is to remind him of goodness and to encourage belief in the truth.

Whoever finds the latter, let him know that it is from Allāh, so let him praise Allāh. Whoever finds the former, let him seek refuge with Allāh from the accursed Shayṭān.❞

Rasūl Allāh ﷺ then recited: 【 Shayṭān threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit fāḥishah (evil deeds); whereas Allāh promises you forgiveness from Himself and bounty…】
