What is the ONE thing that people of Hellfire will want more than anything else? May Allāh not make us of them.
(Try guessing the answer. And no, it is not a ticket out.)
Once ʿAbdullah Ibn ʿOmar (رضي الله عنه) drank cold water, upon drinking it he started weeping. He was asked, “What makes you weep?”.
He replied,
“I remembered an āyah in the Book of Allāh: [And a barrier will be placed between them and what they desire] Saba`:54, and I realised that people of Hellfire want nothing more than cold water, Allāh subḥāneh wa t’āla says: [And the companions of the Fire will call out to the companions of Paradise, “Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allāh has provided you”. ] Aʿrāf:50”
The next time you drink cold water, in shā` Allāh, remember this.
