QURʾĀNIC REFLECTIONS

Ibn ʿAbbās r.a reported that the Prophet would supplicate:

رَبِّ أَعِنِّي وَلاَ تُعِنْ عَلَيَّ

“My Lord, help me and do not give help against me;

وَانْصُرْنِي وَلاَ تَنْصُرْ عَلَىَّ

grant me victory, and do not grant victory

over me;

 وَامْكُرْ لِي وَلاَ تَمْكُرْ عَلَىَّ 

plan on my behalf and do not plan against me;

وَاهْدِنِي وَيَسِّرْ هُدَاىَ إِلَىَّ

guide me, and make guidance easy for me;

وَانْصُرْنِي عَلَى مَنْ بَغَى عَلَىَّ 

grant me victory over those who act wrongfully towards me;

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي لَكَ شكّارًا

O Allah, make me grateful to You,

لَكَ ذكّارًا 

mindful of You,

لَكَ رهّابًا 

full of fear towards You,

لَكَ مِطْوَاعًا

devoted to Your obedience,

لَكَ مُخْبِتًا 

humble before You,

إليك أوّاهًا مُنِيبًا

persistently call you, penitent to You.

رَبِّ تَقَبَّلْ تَوْبَتِي

My Lord, accept my repentance,

وَاغْسِلْ حَوْبَتِي

wash away my sin,

وَأَجِبْ دَعْوَتِي 

answer my supplication,

وَثَبِّتْ حُجَّتِي

clearly establish my evidence,

وَاهْدِ قَلْبِي

guide my heart,

وَسَدِّدْ لِسَانِي 

make my tongue steadfast,

وَاسْلُلْ سَخِيمَةَ قَلْبِي

and draw out malice in my heart.”
