Our faith in Allāh dictates that we believe in His planning—from the major events to the minor details, we believe that they come to be as a result of a Divine decree and not by mere coincidence.
As our īmān builds, we learn to switch our focus from the big events and the small details to the One behind these big events and small details.
When a person makes us smile, we learn that they were only a means and that tiny bump of happiness that brightened our day was rizq from Allāh. Every event thereafter becomes a gift or a test from Allāh. A gift necessitating gratitude and a test necessitating patience and praises of the One who sends tests to purify and nurture.
And so it was a result of this focus on the One behind the means, because of which Sulaimān ʿalayhis salām said what he did when he heard the little ant whisper warnings to her comrades.
【 So Sulaimān smiled in amusement at her words, and said, “Lord, inspire me to be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You, and admit me by Your Mercy into the ranks of Your righteous servants.”】an-Naml:19
