Though ease follows hardship, it is impractical to think that you will find eternal happiness in this life. The nature of this world is that there are ups and downs.
For this reason, Allāh does not promise instant happiness and gratification with His remembrance, rather, He promises something superior and more enduring: He promises contentment and peace in the heart, this contentment and peace is what will get you through the ups, and the inevitable downs, of this life.
ألا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب
Indeed, in the Remembrance of Allāh do hearts find rest.
