[They will murmur amongst themselves, “You stayed no longer than ten days”] Ṭāhā:103
Ten days. That’s what this Dunyā will be worth.
In the next āyah Dunyā is summed up to one day –
[We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: “You stayed no longer than a day!”] Ṭāhā:104
This tells us of the fleeting nature of this world. And it also tells us that those of intellect will not value this Dunyā any more than it is worth.
It’s worth? Not much, evidently.
Our purpose in this Dunya is not to work for it, but to work for the Ākhira and whilst we are here, we may use the necessary means to help us get through. And try to make it a useful, productive life.
In another āyah: the residents of this Dunya, upon the commencement of the Day of Judgement, will deduce that they lingered no longer than an afternoon, or maybe an evening.
