[The Day secrets will be revealed] Tāriq:9
All those shameful things that you didn’t want people to know?
That you hid from everyone? All of it will be out on public display.
There is a word for it in Arabic, Faḍīḥa(فضيحة): a shameful, scandalous exposé.
A shameful, scandalous exposé – in front of all those whom you held in high esteem.
Your parents, peers, loved ones, everyone.
And this is what the ṣālihūn feared so they fixed their private life before it was too late.
In Tafsīr of this āyah, commentators suggest that these secrets include everything from the beliefs of the heart to the deeds people did when they thought no one was watching – not only will these secrets be exposed but they will be put to test.
[The Day secrets will be revealed]
The one who praised will know the reality of whom he praised.
The one who loved will know the reality of whom he loved.
And in a Ḥadīth,
A flag will be fixed on the Day of Resurrection for every betrayer, and it will be announced publicly in front of everybody, “This is the betrayal (perfidy) of so-and-so, the son of so and so”.
